Use Destruction for a timed city run and arena practice

Evidence checked 3 Nov 2026 UTC · review-build scope; no site gameplay test

The short answer

In single-player Destruction, destroy as much of the stage as you can before time runs out. Respec describes the timed objective; Kaiju United's PC review recommends the mode for learning monsters and city destruction without an enemy interrupting.

It is a score-chasing and environment-learning task. It does not demonstrate that a combo works against a resisting opponent, and this guide does not promise a score threshold, hidden reward or fastest RP farm.

Give the run one measurable purpose

  1. Select the single-player Destruction mode

Use a monster and available stage you want to learn. This guide concerns the timed solo objective; Custom Battle also offers Destruction rules in the PS5 review, so check the mode you actually selected.

  2. Choose city score or learning

For a score attempt, keep the same monster and stage so the next result is comparable. For learning, choose one question: which structures break, which can be picked up, or how much room a move needs.

  3. Move through targets deliberately

Test a compact route through reachable structures, then compare attacks and movement against the remaining time. Some buildings can be picked up; Respec cautions that not every structure is grabbable. A failed pickup does not prove the grab input is wrong.

  4. Read the final score and repeat one change

Keep the setup constant and try a different path or attack choice. Compare the actual result rather than assuming larger-looking destruction always has a known score multiplier.

Turn city practice into a combat lesson

Use the quiet space to learn how the arena changes. IGN's current review notes that destroyed buildings leave less cover and fewer throwables in later rounds, while routes to dropped power-ups become more direct. Destroying everything can remove resources you would otherwise use in a fight.

  • Find a structure that is actually grabbable and learn the input from your platform's move list.
  • Observe the space a large attack or throw needs, then try it against an opponent in a normal match.
  • Learn the edge position before a fight; Respec reports shocking boundaries and camera trouble near them.

If the run does not deliver what you expected

The city will not let me pick up a building
Try an eligible structure and confirm reach/facing. Not all buildings are pickup objects; do not import a universal rule from an old guide.
I want a Research Project to finish
Respec reports RP outside Practice, but the current Project and specific condition still matter. Check the result meter and Lab sequence; no score-to-RP formula is verified here.
My practice attack fails in a match
A city target does not defend, move or interrupt like a monster. Use Practice and a normal CPU match to learn the attack's combat timing.

The run has served its purpose when…

You have a result score to compare with the same setup, or a specific arena interaction you can repeat. Move to a normal fight to test combat, or inspect the current Lab Project if progression was the actual goal.
