Progression
Level a monster for its own unlocks and single-player benefits
Keep using the same monster in normal Adventure or an eligible Custom Battle, then check that monster's Character XP and level after the result. Research Points advance a Lab Project; they do not replace the individual fighter's XP. GamesHedge's PS5 review reports character milestones with health, Rage and power-recovery benefits. The developers explicitly limit the strengthening benefits to single-player modes.
Turn Tournament off when seeking progress. Kaiju United's PC review reports Survival awarding RP without Character XP, so that reported mode is the wrong choice for a level condition. This is not a site-tested rule for every platform.

What a character level can change
| Your goal | What the sources support | What to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| A stronger single-player fighter | GamesHedge reports milestones including more health and faster power recovery; developer interview says benefits apply only in single player. | The selected monster's level and next milestone. Do not assume an online stat advantage. |
| Access to a Rage attack | The PC review ties Rage unlocks to individual levels; some require level 5. | That fighter's own unlock condition and move list. Level5 is not a universal roster threshold. |
| A later Adventure variant | PC review reports Gauntlet at level 4 and Adventure Challenge at level 7. | The chosen monster and actual variant condition; a different monster's level does not satisfy it. |
| A Rumor with a level requirement | PS5 review describes Rumors requiring particular monster levels. | The named monster and exact requirement, then return to the Lab. |
Run a session that serves the level goal
Identify one fighter and one condition
Read the level requirement you are trying to meet. Note the current level/XP for that monster before playing. A locked roster slot first needs permanent research.
Use ordinary progression settings
Leave Tournament off. Choose normal Adventure, or normal Custom Battle as reported in the PS5 review. Keep the target monster selected rather than distributing the session across the roster.
Complete a result and compare the same meter
Inspect Character XP and the target monster's level. RP or a new Sightings picture is a different reward. Use the next result to check consistency before committing a long session.
Return to the original gate
After meeting the displayed requirement, reopen the Rumor, variant or character ability that prompted the session. A higher number alone is not proof that an unrelated Lab reward has finished.
We have no verified XP-per-match formula or fastest leveling route. Choosing a reliable eligible mode is more useful than adopting an untested farm multiplier.
If the level or ability stays locked
- RP increased, but the monster did not level
- Check which meter you recorded. The cited PC Survival result can award research without XP. Use normal Adventure or the cited eligible Custom route, then compare again.
- Another monster is high level
- Character XP belongs to the monster played. Re-select the one named by the gate.
- I reached level 5 but Rage is still unavailable
- The source says some monsters use that threshold. Inspect this fighter's condition and current move instructions; do not keep pressing an original-release input from another platform.
- The game shows a different gate
- Follow the installed build's displayed requirement. Keep the platform, build and before/after level when checking a changed rule; the cited numbers are PC review observations.
The level session is complete when…
The same fighter's XP/level has advanced and the specific milestone or gate you wanted is available. If the remaining requirement is a Research Project, return to the Lab rather than continuing an unrelated level grind.
